Amanda Rollins-Cheverie is a highly experienced professional trainer and behavior support services worker. With a focus on working with individuals with Intellectual Disability (ID) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work.
For over a decade, Amanda has served as a faculty member at Holland College’s Prince of Wales Campus, where she is the lead instructor for behavior support strategies courses. She also teaches courses on individualized teaching methods and strategies, equipping her students with the necessary skills to support individuals with complex needs.
With a certificate in adult education, Amanda is a professional trainer with Your Life Design Inc. She also offers behavior support service sessions that are backed by extensive research and tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals she works with.
Amanda’s extensive career in the helping and education field spans more than twenty years. She is a graduate of the Human Services program at Holland College and the University of Prince Edward Island.
Throughout her career, Amanda has trained numerous students, preparing them to become professional helpers in their own right.
As a sought-after guest speaker, Amanda addresses topics such as self-regulation, co-regulation, behavior support, and supporting individuals with complex needs. Her presentations are characterized by her quick wit, problem-solving skills, and practical approach, leaving participants equipped with concrete strategies and simple techniques that can be implemented immediately.
Fluent in both English and French, Amanda offers professional training sessions in both languages.
Amanda’s approach to behavior support strategies is characterized by a collaborative and person-centered approach. In her sessions, she begins with a thorough assessment to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s behavior and identify any underlying factors contributing to it. Based on this assessment, she develops personalized behavior support strategies that address the specific needs and goals of the client.
Amanda’s strategies encompass a range of techniques, including preventative measures, proactive interventions, and reactive strategies. She works on identifying triggers and implementing strategies to minimize challenging behaviors, while also teaching alternative behaviors and skills that can replace them.
Amanda’s sessions also focus on individualized teaching methods and strategies to facilitate learning and skill development.
Throughout the session, Amanda provides guidance, support, and coaching to the client and their support network. She empowers the client’s support system, including family members, caregivers, and professionals, to implement the strategies consistently and effectively.
Amanda’s ultimate goal in behavior support strategy sessions is to enable individuals to improve their behavior, increase their independence, and enhance their overall quality of life. By equipping clients and their support network with effective strategies and techniques, she empowers individuals to overcome challenges and achieve their personal goals.
