Magan is a registered social worker in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. She has a very long list of degrees and credentials, from her beginnings at the University of Prince Edward Island completing Family Science and Education degrees, to Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees.
While her qualifications and her experience in Canada’s urban and rural regions are second to none, it is her infectious smile that make people feel immediately comfortable in her therapy sessions, or as a participant in her professional training seminars. She is a natural teacher and life-long learner.
Magan is extremely diligent in her clinical practice to be using evidence-based techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Her background comes together to allow her to be able to work well with a variety of people across the lifespan. Her specialties are working with children age 4+ and their caregivers, working with teens, young adults, couples, and families.
Magan supports people who experience life challenges such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, interpersonal relationship challenges, attachment concerns and other complex mental health experiences.
Magan creates an emotionally supportive and fun space for young children and caregivers to address childhood fears, worry and sadness, attachment concerns, behavioural challenges, and parent coaching. She is a skilled professional trainer and therapist.
Magan brings a great deal clinical experience and has worked as a therapist in several organizations. She has also been a clinical supervisor, giving direction and clinical consultation to other therapists in her work. She has worked in mental health and addictions in Toronto. She has worked in higher education, schools, government and non-profit organizations.
Magan has clinical experience in working with people of all ages. She has experience in clinical and practicum supervision of a Master of Social Work (MSW) student.
Trained first as an educator before becoming a registered social worker, participants experience Magan’s professional training sessions to be educational, interactive, culturally sensitive and trauma-informed.
Magan has presented to helpers, management teams, adult learners, nursing professionals and students. She is engaging presenter with a genuine interest in making an impact.
Magan lives with her husband in Charlottetown. They have three preschool age children.
